The joy in thrifting comes not only from a great find, but also from that moment when you figure out how to breathe new life into an old piece.  –  Anonymous

red vintage coat $0 – rummage sale

There is a great story behind how I got this beautiful vintage coat for free. When I was in hair school, I got to be part of this amazing group called the ‘Be Nice’ Team. We were in charge of doing acts of kindness around the school and raising money for different causes. One fundraiser we did was a rummage sale. We collected a ton of items to be sold and made a decent profit but at the end of the day we still had leftover items we needed to pack up and donate to the local thrift store and our group leader said if there is anything you see and want you can have. SOMEHOW, I don’t know how but somehow, this lovely coat got passed up. No one had seen it, I hadn’t seen it until the end of the day and I had organized a lot of the items so it really was strange that I hadn’t noticed it until then. It was beautiful, so clean and in like new condition with real fur. I was dying. That was 5 years ago and I still have it and I still love wearing it!

leopard bucket hat $2 – Goodwill

I found this adorable bucket hat at Goodwill. Goodwill does a great job of keeping their items clean and organized (for a thrift store). The best part about this hat is that the original tags were still on it.

gold chain necklace $0 – family heirloom

This necklace originally belonged to my grandma, who is still alive and has more jewelry than anybody I know. Because she has so much jewelry and still likes to buy it, she occasionally gets rid of some. She gave this piece to my mom with a bunch of other stuff and when I went off to college I asked my mom if I could have it (my mom never wore it). Now it is a go-to piece for me. I love this necklace and it is super in right now. The cardigan is a thrift shop find too.

 scarf headband $2 / navy cardigan $4 – local thrift store NU 2 U

I love the quote at the top of this page and feel it definitely applies to this scarf headband. I love wearing scarves in my hair and know quite a few ways to rock ’em. I am thinking of doing a video tutorial of different ways to wear a headscarf! This cardigan was in great condition when I got it and it’s Merona brand!

burgundy hat $2- Goodwill

Just the hat in this outfit is from the thrift store. One thing you need to know about me is that I probably will never buy shoes at a Thrift Store… I worry about the cleanliness of them and there is no really good way to clean shoes. I hope to have more outfits that are entirely from the thrift store but the purpose of this page is to show that nice items can be found in second hand stores and can be incorporated into any wardrobe. As this fashion page grows, it will eventually become a look book and there will be less description about my thrifty fashion finds.
