Summer is finally here! I am sure some of you were having nice weather months ago and were ready for summer then but it is just barely hitting me so here are are my summer must-haves for this year!
1. Peach/melon lippies
I feel like it took me long enough to jump on the bold lip train; I am completely in love with fun bold lip colors now but this summer I am going for a little more natural look with my makeup. This includes putting my bold lipsticks away and using a complementary peach shade of lipstick or a nice melon lip gloss. I am in love with this NYX Butter Lipstick in Lollies.
2. Dainty simple jewelry
I am a big fan of minimalism. I love clean and simple and less. And I will admit that I am not good at minimalism. I love stuff and big gaudy accessories but this summer I want to try and be a little more simple in my accessories by using small dainty pieces. Have you ever seen fashion images on Pinterest or Instagram or in a magazine and thought, “This person is just wearing jeans and a t shirt (or just wearing something so simple and plain) why do they look so fashion forward and stunning?” Well, besides the fact that they are models, I think that sometimes less is more. So this summer, I am trying to wear less. Obviously, anytime the weather is warmer we think less clothing, I want to take it a step further and wear less accessories and more simple pieces. I love H & M’s necklaces right now.
3. Cat eye sunglasses
A few years ago, I probably would have laughed if someone told me I was going to love cat eye sunglasses. I used to think they were so goofy looking but I have seen a few people wearing them and I have been inspired! I love them now! I also found the cutest pair at the thrift store a few months ago.
Up until last summer, I loved being out in the sun and getting a good ol’ fashion tan. But I finally realized that I am not 13 anymore, my skin is getting older, and I need to take care of it. I still love being out in the sun but I have decided that I need to protect my skin if I want it to be healthy. I love this banana boat spray for babies; it goes on so fast and easy. It probably takes me 30 seconds to spray down myself and both my kids.
5. Sunless tanner
Even though I am not getting a nice golden tan from the sun I still think I look better with a sun kissed glow. I get this using Jergen’s Daily Glow. I like gradual sunless tanners over other tanners because with basic sunless tanners no matter how careful I am or how well I rub it in there always seems to be streaks or uneven patches. I don’t ever have this problem with any “daily glow” product. I like Jergen’s because I think they were the first ones to come up with a gradual sunless tanners (I could be wrong about this but at least I remember them being the first to really advertise and put their product out there). This Jergen’s lotion I use also has nutrients in it that helps minimize cellulite, not that I have any of that though (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). I also like to go to a professional and get a spray tan. Tanya at TONIC SALON is my go-to-gal for a nice spray tan. She is an amazing esthetician and so nice too.
6. Boyfriend t-shirts
I am am obsessed with loose fitting t-shirts right now. I especially love v-neck t shirts because they add a little feminine touch to a casual baggy shirt. These boyfriend tees are perfect for summer; so light and easy. You can pair them with a pencil skirt and heels to dress it up or jean shorts and sandals for a more casual look. These boyfriend tees are probably going to be a favorite of mine for a long time.
7. AG Beach Bomb
This beachy hair product is amazing! I discovered this stuff last summer and I am so in love. The best thing about AG Beach Bomb is how healthy it leaves your hair compared to other beachy hair products. My hair is super fine and straight and if I use this stuff I have tons of volume and wave just like I had spent a day at the beach. It enhances curl and can give amazing texture to any type of hair. AG Beach Bomb is my go to hair product for summer hair. You can purchase Beach Bomb HERE.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have an amazing summer and take time to enjoy the outdoors with lots of sunshine, sno-cones, and swimming. I have some amazing things coming this Fall so I am going to continue to try and post every week but I might take a few weeks off here and there. I would love to here from you in the mean time!
